-An exciting month! David was hired to be the Assistant Director on the Broadway revival of THE BEST MAN by Gore Vidal. The play, directed by Michael Wilson, stars Angela Lansbury, James Earl Jones, Candice Bergen, John Laroquette, Michael McKean, Eric McCormick, and many more amazing talents to be announced. -Work continued on WELCOME TO SHOOFLY, and rehearsals began for the New Jersey Playwrights Contest. The piece was presented on December 1, and will continue to develop into the new year.

-David assistant directed the AEA 29-hour reading of FLASHDANCE in its developmental journey.
-An event that is always special to David, ‘LIVING FOR TODAY,’ a concert series to benefit the Gilana Shira Alpert fund was held on Monday, October 17 at 7:00pm at Joe’s Pub! The concert raised over $4,000, and featured performances by Aaron Lazar, Max Von Essen, Steve Rosen, Janet Dacal, Tory Ross, Stephanie D’Abruzzo, Celina Carvajal, Lucia Spina, Autumn Hurlbert, Jim Walton, Stephanie Umoh, Correy West, Darren Ritchie, Jason Michael Snow, Amos Wolff, Jessica Rush, Daniel Everidge, Madeleine Doherty, Allison Case, and Stephen Spinella.

-On Tuesday, September 13 David directed the AEA 29-Hour reading of ‘WELCOME TO SHOOFLY‘ with an incredible cast. The piece was well-received, and the musical will continue its development! Check out the press release on Playbill.
-Initial planning and meetings were held for the fourth annual LIVING FOR TODAY concert that was held at Joe’s Pub.

-David was a guest teacher and lecturer for two different youth theatre programs this summer. Camp Broadway in Manhattan, as well as Voiceworks in New Jersey. Additionally, David offered coachings to NYC actors and began the first “Creative Outlet Workshops,” bringing together young actors to create scenes based on music.
-Initial meetings for the new musical WELCOME TO SHOOFLY (a reading that David will direct in Fall 2011) began, as well as for RAINBOW VALLEY in its developmental journey.
-Readings were held for two projects that David is assistant directing (again with Sergio Trujillo).

-NYU Musical Theatre Writing Program graduates Dimitri Landrain and Felice Kuan presented the first act of their new musical “RAINBOW VALLEY” based on the seventh book of the ‘Anne of Green Gables’ series. David directed this ambitious project which has the blessings of the L.M. Montgomery estate, and was presented as part of the New Works Series on Thursday, May 19 at 6:30pm in the TADA Theater Space in NYC.
-‘LITTLE KNOWN FACTS’ was presented on Tuesday, May 24 at 7:00pm at the Laurie Beechman Theater to a nearly sold-out crowd. David directed this one-woman show written and performed by Tracey Gilbert. It will make a return engagement in the fall of 2011!

-WHITE NOISE goes to Chicago! This new, bold, original musical opened at the Royal George Theater April 9 after rehearsing in New York City. Whoopi Goldberg produced, and Sergio Trujillo directed. David served as the assistant director, and transitioned to the resident director during the run to put in understudies as well as maintain the director’s vision and the integrity of the show.

-On January 14, 2011, Ms. Amy Persons returned to New York with her one woman cabaret “Amy Persons is 38 and Weighs 145 Pounds!” David directed this show at the Duplex.
-David had the great privilege to work at Lincoln Center! On January 25th and 26th at the Alice Tully Hall in NYC, David assisted Ted Sperling (Tony winner for Light in the Piazza, Full Monty, South Pacific) on the KNICKERBOCKER HOLIDAY concerts. The starry concerts featured Kelli O’Hara, Victor Garber, and Christopher Fitzgerald. More info can be found here!
-WHITE NOISE held auditions and many design meetings for the upcoming production in Chicago. David is the assistant director for the piece.

-The holiday event of the season! TITUSS & NIKKI RENEE: HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS was presented on Sunday, December 5th at 9:30pm at the Laurie Beechman Theater. These two Broadway voices came together in song in an event created and directed by David. Check out this press release on Playbill.com!
-On December 9, musical theatre composer Cody Owen Stine presented an evening of his work at the Laurie Beechman Theatre in Manhattan. David directed the evening.
-David spent another week at the Public working on Tony Kushner’s new play as it prepares for its NY premiere.
-12/13, a cabaret featuring many of David’s friends, was presented on Monday, December 13th at 9:30pm at the Duplex. "Twelve thirteenths: almost complete. Twelve and thirteen: odd and even. ...Twelve...thirteen... what came before and what's next? Four singers and a live band explain, explore and entertain with music that brings it all together."

-On November 21, David directed a new musical that takes its cue from Ibsen’s classic “A Doll’s House.” Written by Dimitri Landrain and Chae-kyung Lee, the production was presented in the Blackbox Theater at the NYU Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Building.
-David assisted Michael Greif as Tony Kushner’s new play ‘iHo’ (or ‘THE INTELLIGENT HOMOSEXUAL’S GUIDE...’) prepares for a spring debut at the Public.
-A reading of Tracey Gilbert’s one-woman show that David is directing was presented in NYC.
-David taught an acting workshop to his high school drama’s program.

-David assistant directed the by-invite reading of the new musical WHITE NOISE as it continues its creative development. The new musical is directed by Sergio Trujillo, and is produced by Whoopi Goldberg.
-The third annual LIVING FOR TODAY concert was presented on Sunday, October 24 at 9:30pm to a sold-out house at the Laurie Beechman Theater in Manhattan. Singing from a songbook comprised solely of Act One Closers were Broadway’s Tituss Burgess, Jill Paice, Kate Shindle, Ben Cameron, Paige Davis, John Treacy Egan, Celina Carvajal, Stephanie D'Abruzzo, Nancy Anderson, Nikki Renee Daniels, Graham Rowat, Jonathan Rayson, and Kate Jennings Grant, along with a new video by YouTube Sensation Randy Rainbow. -What an exciting month! David directed two events for The New York Musical Theatre Festival. He helmed four new pieces in the 8MINUTE MUSICALS which were presented at the American Theatre of Actors on October 4 & 5, and met some amazing new collaborators. David also had the great fun in directing COCAINE: THE BAND: THE MUSICAL as part of the NYMF @ NITE. It ran October 1 & 2 at Urban Stages to enthusiastic audiences!
-Preproduction and rehearsals began for the industry reading of WHITE NOISE. David is the assistant director of this exciting new musical.

-David’s new imagining of JOSEPH... opened at the Play Group Theatre in White Plains. It was an incredible experience, and pictures and video from the show will be posted soon!

-Casting and rehearsals began for JOSEPH... at the Play Group Theatre in White Plains! A company of 24 kids, ages 10-16 proved to be an exciting and incredibly rewarding challenge.
-For a week, David joined Broadway’s Tituss Burgess and other professionals including Stephen Schwartz in presenting workshops and classes for a group of 20 Brazilian students. David was the acting instructor for the week and had a blast!

-David served as the assistant director for the NYC reading of the new musical ‘WHITE NOISE.’ The workshop was directed by Sergio Trujillo (Memphis, Addams Family, Jersey Boys, Next to Normal, and Guys & Dolls). Check out the website here.

-David directed a cast of nearly 40 kids in WILLY WONKA at the Play Group Theater. Additionally, he taught musical theatre to elementary school children. The show was presented May 16 & 23.

-A group of David’s fellow WMU alums came together to present a iSING, a cabaret at the Laurie Beechman Theater in Manhattan on April 29. David stepped in to direct the concert, a wonderful evening with great songs and friends.
-On Monday, April 26, David directed the presentation of Ryan Langer & Jon Weissberg’s new musical EVERYTHING IS FINE for the annual ASCAP Foundation Musical Theatre Workshop. The workshop was created by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell, Pippin), and composers Scott Frankel and Craig Carnelia rounded out the panel. Read this press release for more information.

-MIRAGE, a new one act play that David directed in the Network’s One Act Festival in March made it to the semi-finals of the festival.
-David directed the inaugural production for the Step Theater Company, ‘CATY BRIDGEWATER’ at the Alvin Ailey Studios on March 1.

-The reading of ‘HERE TODAY’ by Jon Weissberg, “a darkly comedic love story that explores trust, dependency, collective solitude, passion, hope and responsibility,” was produced by Tate Theatrics. The reading starred Matt Doyle (Bye Bye Birdie, Spring Awakening) and Celina Carvajal (Toxic Avenger, 42nd St., MTV’s “Legally Blonde the Search for Elle Woods), and was presented on Monday, February 15 at 7:00PM at Theatre Row in NYC. (Playbill Article, BroadwayWorld Article). David directed.
-As part of the Astoria Performing Arts Center Playmaking Program, David directed professional actors in a ten minute play that was written by a middle school student. The play was then presented to the student in an evening of one acts.
